Are You Using Recruitment Videos in Your Talent Management Strategy?

In recent years, talent acquisition has changed its course.  For recruiters, to be up to the challenge for searching and locating top talent, it is important to keep up on trends. First and foremost, it is a candidate’s market right now. Unemployment is at its lowest rate since 2008.

Did you know that according to McKinsey’s 2015 Global Growth Model study, there were 3x as many workers as retirees from 2005-2015 and by 2025, it will be a ratio of 1:1? This makes for a smaller candidate pool.

What does this mean? Your employer brand message is essential! Choosing the right partner to help you recruit with the right message will efficiently and effectively attract and retain top talent at a viral speed and at a lower cost.

The name of the game is attracting that perfect, passive seeker to your job opening.  In order to do that you need to show and tell.  Who are you?  What’s unique about your culture?  Your job opening?

Attracting and retaining top talent is a competition for employers and the battle is fierce. It is the power of video that will separate today’s recruiter from the rest of the pack.

Today’s Job Seeker is Mobile

Mobile devices are important in today’s digital society as people are always on the go. We need to find information, easily, on any size screen that fits in a purse or pocket.

A report was released in April 2015 by Pew Research Center in association with the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. It stated that 64% of Americans are now smartphone owners. It also stated that 67% of smartphone owners will occasionally use their mobile device to share videos, pictures, or commentary about events happening in their community. (In fact, according to YouTube, the average viewing session is now more than 40 minutes, up more than 50% y/y and more than half of YouTube views come from mobile devices.)

The report also revealed most interesting results about job seeker behavior. 43% of smartphone users indicated that they have looked up information about a job on their mobile device, while 18% of users say they have used a smartphone to submit a job application. Beyond.com released a study showing that 77% of job seekers use mobile apps in their search.

Today’s Job Seeker is Social

Facebook surpassed 1.44 billion monthly active users and 1.25 mobile users, with 65% of active users who are daily users. Twitter has 302 million active users. 80% are active on mobile devices and 500 million “tweets” are sent per day.

LinkedIn has over 364 million members worldwide. Professionals are signing up on LinkedIn at a rate of more than two new members each second. 62% of LinkedIn’s revenue stream was from Talent Solutions, totaling $396 million in the 1st quarter of 2015. Jobvite conducted a survey that found 79% of recruiters said they found candidates through LinkedIn, 26% of recruiters found candidates through Facebook and 14% found candidates through Twitter.

Digi-Me videos have an intuitive share function allowing candidates to make you go viral. With 86% of jobseekers having a social profile and 4 out of every 10 job seekers having at least 150 connections, it is very powerful to tap into their networks and the data association with it. Plus, our technology automatically recognizes the language settings of the candidates’ browser making the experience seamless.  Did you know that candidates are far more likely to share a video posting?  And these shares lead to the top 4 ways organizations are using digital postings to drive applies?

Not only that, Digi-Me’s mobile functionality allows candidates to view and apply for jobs directly from their phones, linking to the organization’s ATS, or by pulling information from social media profiles to populate application forms or allowing candidates to upload résumés from online file storage sites, such as GoogleDocs.

Today’s Job Seekers Are Connected to Brand Advocates

As a recruiter faced with the dilemma of locating top talent, employee referral programs are a great solution. According to a recent blog article by Clear Company, “statistics show 1 out of every 5 referrals gets hired.” The blog article also stated referrals have longer tenure and are happier at the companies they are recruited to, being that “46% stay over 1 year, 45% over 2 years and 47% over 3 years.” 67% of recruiters and employers reported the overall recruiting process took less time. 51% of recruiters and employers reported that is was more cost effective / less expensive to recruit a referral.

Needless to say, referrals are a great value added source for your recruitment efforts. This begs the question, how do you to set up a successful employee referral program (ERP)?

An essential part of ERP is that you are leveraging your company culture and reaching out to your brand ambassadors, the employees in your organization that care about the company. They are the true testimony of your Employee Value Proposition (EVP) and what your culture has to offer.

Recruiters need to incorporate digital VIDEOJOBS™ with their Employee Referral Program. A potential candidate learns and retains up to 60% more about a job by watching a video versus reading text alone. It helps a candidate choose to opt in or opt out of the application process, giving recruiters more qualified candidates, which leads to less screening time.

Most important for your employees and brand ambassadors, videos are easy to view on mobile devices and easy to share on social media, giving a job video the potency to really go viral. This in turn makes it easy for employees and brand ambassadors to help your organization get the visibility you need, at a low cost, in order to attract top talent. Not to mention, video is easy to track with the right partner, a partner that offers up-to-the minute metrics on where your videos are viewed and shared, as well as how many applied.

For today’s digital world and to reach today’s digital job seeker, wouldn’t it make sense that you have a digital talent acquisition strategy? Digital VIDEOJOBS™ can help you find the top talent that you are searching for. The question is not, “Why use VIDEOJOBS™?” The real question is, “Why not?”
